License ​

Graph Modeler™ is free for personal, educational, research and other non-commercial use. Commercial use needs a commercial license.

The text of the license is at the bottom of this page, and it is the text that applies. What follows only explains it.

Free to use ​

You may install and use Graph Modeler at no cost for:

  • Personal projects
  • Educational use
  • Academic research
  • Open source projects
  • Learning and experimentation

Needs a commercial license ​

A commercial license is needed for any commercial use. That includes use:

  • by a business, a corporation, a government agency or a nonprofit organization;
  • by consultants or contractors in connection with paid work;
  • in customer projects;
  • as part of an activity that earns money;
  • inside a business, for its own purposes.

How to get a commercial license ​

A commercial license for one person costs US$99, paid once. It has no end date. The Pricing page shows it beside the free personal use.

Buy a commercial license, US$99

  • Try it first. Graph Modeler is free to download and use, and nothing is held back until you buy, so you can be sure it runs on your computer and does what you need. The Download page has the installers.
  • Polar takes the payment. Polar is the merchant of record: it charges your card, adds any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt. On your statement the charge appears as POLAR*graph-modeler.
  • Your key. When you pay, Polar emails you a link, Access purchase. It sends a 6-digit code to your email address and then shows your license key, ready to copy. The confirmation page explains it too. You can use the key on your own computers. In Graph Modeler, choose Enter license key on the About tab and paste it. The program checks it with Polar, and nothing is switched off whether or not you enter it.
  • Buying for a company. Tick I'm purchasing as a business at checkout to add the business name and a tax ID to the invoice.
  • More than one person. A license is for one person. If several people at your organization need one, write to sales@graphmodeler.com for a discounted price. See Volume licensing.
  • Your money back. If it is not right for you, you get a full refund within 30 days, no questions asked. See the Refund Policy.
  • On a Mac. The Mac version is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS asks for one extra step, described on the Download page. A Mac that your employer manages may not allow that step. If yours does not, please try the free download before you buy, or write to support@graphmodeler.com.

What the license does not allow ​

You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, host or bundle the software, or otherwise exploit it commercially, without written permission from the copyright holder.

The software it uses ​

Graph Modeler is built on other people's work, each under its own license. They are listed, with their licenses, on the About tab of the app. Graphviz is not part of Graph Modeler: it is installed separately, under its own license.
